Gilmore Girls. I don’t know where to start. It’s a lifestyle, it’s a religion. It was one of my FAVORITE shows in high school. And now in less than one month, the revival of Gilmore Girls will be released on Netflix. Me and my Gilmore Girl’s BFF have an entire day blocked off to binge watch all 4 “episodes.” We’ve had it schedule since the release date was published. We’ve planned an entire feast to sustain ourselves throughout the day. It’s centered around all of the Gilmore Girl favorites! So in case you haven’t already mapped out your own Gilmore Girl’s Revival party, here’s all the details from ours.
If Lorelai and Rory (and occasionally Paris) have taught us anything, it’s to be prepared and that eating and binge watching is a marathon and not a sprint. A game plan must be created and you must stick to the game plan. There’s always a logical reason for each step of the process.
We plan to start very early with the first episode “Winter.” We will eat all of the traditional Gilmore Girl breakfast items. Pancakes and donuts. Let’s not forget coffee, although this is not an exclusive item for breakfast in the Gilmore household.
Next up are snacks. Snacks are an important part of the Gilmore Girls way of life. So for any part of the binge marathon where we’re feeling “hungry,” we’ll have yellow daisy cookies (recipe to come on Thursday) and homemade pop tarts (recipe to come closer to the revival release).
As we move on to the Spring and Summer episodes, we have lots of “real food” planned for the menu. By real food, we mean the typical meals of Lorelai and Rory. It’s what they sneak into Stars Hollow Town Meetings, pick up from Al’s Pancake World, and order at Luke’s Diner. There are so many things we could choose from, but we had to narrow it down to a manageable list of items. We decided on pizza, Chinese food, and fries. Of course we will be serving Ms. Patty’s Founder’s Day Punch in our Fun Flasks.
After we’ve satisfied our cravings with real food, we’ll move on to the final episode, Fall, and finish the marathon off with pie and any leftover cookies and poptarts. It will be a very difficult test to eat like a Gilmore, especially just after Thanksgiving. But I think we’re up to the challenge! We’ve even ordered Gilmore Girls shirts. My love of coffee is not quite to the level of Loralei and Rory’s, but it is one of my favorite things. So of course I ordered a shirt about coffee…..
We got the shirts off of Etsy. There are so many to choose from; check them out, here. I’m getting really excited about the release of the revival. A couple of weeks ago Sola Coffee, in Raleigh, was transformed into Luke’s Diner. My friend and I got up at 0-dark-30 to stand in line with lots of other crazy fans to get a cup of coffee from Luke’s. It was a cool experience and definitely amped up the excitement. Stay tuned later in the week for my recipe for 1000 Yellow Daisy Cookies!
